This home, on an expansive country estate, was originally a 1920's farmhouse with a four-room, square footprint. The house was transformed with an addition in the early 1980's, creating a salt-box style massing. The 1980's home was completely clad in aluminum siding and had suffered significant deterioration.
Think Design crafted a spacious, naturally lit great room expansion. The new design included a glass enclosed inglenook with a natural wood burning fireplace. The interior included a cherry wood tongue & groove ceiling, elaborate cherry trim work, a fireplace with polished stone surround/cherry wood mantel and stained art glass interior doors.
The exterior of the existing house was clad to match the new addition including: a new Wisconsin limestone base, lap siding and shingle clad gable ends. All windows were replaced with Marvin aluminum clad wood casement windows.
